Thirteen FFNCA members traveled to Richmond, Virginia, the weekend of May 19-21, 2017. We were hosted by club members who showed us the best their city has to offer. They started by welcoming us at the wonderful Jefferson Hotel for happy hour.
On Saturday morning we toured the Virginia State House and learned much about Virginia history and government. After a boxed lunch at the home of a member, we broke up into small groups. Three of us visited the Hollywood Cemetery, where I was impressed to see the graves of many Confederate soldiers and two U.S. Presidents: Tyler and Monroe.
We met many more club members at a potluck picnic Saturday evening, where not surprisingly, we ate all the food and drank all the wine!
On Sunday we enjoyed a Trolley tour of the city of Richmond before visiting the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. We really fit a lot into a short stay and made new friends in our neighboring club.
Now it is our turn. The FFNCA Board will plan for a convenient weekend in the next year or so when we can return their hospitality.
